Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. During the Game Developers Conference last week, IGN uncovered that one particular mystery—the game's jaw-dropping final cutscene—won't be explained in the DLC. For those who haven't completed Lies of P yet, here's a spoiler-free heads-up: the endgame cutscene hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This twist has sparked endless theories among fans about its implications and whether the DLC would provide any answers. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed that this cutscene is not related to the upcoming Overture DLC. He tantalizingly added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has also announced a full sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the enigmatic cutscene might be setting the stage for Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, with Choi keeping his cards close to his chest during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The cutscene in question, which we discussed with Choi, involves the Dorothy scene. As we detailed here, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals Dorothy's iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, suggesting a future connection to other public domain fairy tales. However, we now know that this plot thread won't be explored in Overture.

Choi did share some tantalizing hints about what we can expect from the Overture DLC. He suggested that fans should replay the base game to uncover clues that hint at the upcoming content: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi said. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion." He also noted that some fans are already close to the mark with their online theories.

Additionally, Choi revealed that the Overture DLC will take roughly 15-20 hours for experienced players to complete. It will become available after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and remain accessible until the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can expect new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, although Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
