Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed to Autumn

Authore: ZoeUpdate:May 04,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with enthusiasm, but the trading feature quickly became a point of contention due to the difficulty in obtaining the necessary currency and the restrictive nature of the trading system. However, a recent update aims to address these issues and improve the trading experience.

A significant change is the complete removal of Trade Tokens. Now, trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity will require Shinedust instead. This new currency is earned by opening booster packs and receiving cards that are already registered in your Card Dex. If you currently possess Trade Tokens, they can be converted into Shinedust, which is also used to obtain flair. Further modifications to Shinedust are planned, and an upcoming update will introduce an in-game function to share cards you're interested in trading.

As previously noted, the initial implementation of trading felt somewhat half-hearted. The necessity for restrictions in a digital environment to prevent abuse is understandable, but the execution left much to be desired. These new changes, although promising, won't be implemented until autumn at the earliest, leaving players to wait through the spring and summer. While the Pokémon TCG Pocket team is addressing these issues, the pace of these updates has been slower than many players would like.
