Get ready for an exciting new chapter in Marvel Rivals with the upcoming Season 2, where NetEase is set to enhance the game with updated team-up skills and stunning new skins for fan-favorite characters like Spiderman and Iron Man. Dive into the details of what's coming next in this highly anticipated season.
Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals
New Team-Up Skills and Changes
Marvel Rivals' Game Director, Guangyun Chen, has revealed exciting changes to team-up skills for Season 2. In a recent interview with PC Gamer on March 14, Chen shared insights into the next major update for the game. He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."
Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela with either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. As the roster grows, it will be fascinating to see how NetEase balances these changes to maintain a dynamic and fair gameplay experience.
Balancing Heroes
Chen also discussed the approach to balancing heroes as the game's character lineup expands. He explained, "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts."
He further added, "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."
In a previous interview with Metro in January, Chen mentioned that Marvel Rivals will introduce a new hero every half-season, with each season lasting approximately three months. This schedule means that the game will add a total of eight new heroes annually. As the roster expands, the task of maintaining game balance becomes increasingly challenging for the developers.
Chen also confirmed that the content for Season 2 is complete and ready for release, with designs for Seasons 3 and 4 already finalized and in development. This aligns with NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for at least 10 years, promising a continuous stream of exciting updates for players.
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Ironman Coming on March 20
NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official Twitter (X) account on March 18 that new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man will be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spiderman's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a futuristic look with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and an electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin showcases a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.
These skins were popular during the game's closed beta period, and fans are eager to see them in the full release. Following the release of Loki's Presidential attire from the beta, these new skins add to the excitement surrounding Marvel Rivals. While the release date for the skins has been announced, their prices have yet to be revealed.
