Crunchyroll Vault Expands with Shogun Showdown, a Roguelike Deckbuilder

Shogun Showdown, a captivating new roguelike combat deckbuilder, has recently joined the Crunchyroll Game Vault. Initially released in September 2024 for PC and consoles, this game was developed by Roboatino and published by Goblinz Studio and Gamera Games (for other platforms). It quickly gained popularity due to its innovative approach to turn-based combat.

What’s the Gameplay Like in Crunchyroll: Shogun Showdown?

In Shogun Showdown, strategic thinking is paramount before you make your move. The game's arena is a singular lane, filled with adversaries all intent on defeating you. As a samurai on a quest to vanquish a corrupted shogun who has brought devastation and darkness to the land, your journey is fraught with challenges.

Combat unfolds on a one-dimensional track, ranging from 4 to 12 spaces. Here, you'll manage your queued actions, prepare your attacks, maneuver your position, and strive to avoid being trapped by ashigaru warriors. Each action in Crunchyroll: Shogun Showdown is critical, as you can only queue three attacks or actions at a time. The game's procedurally generated runs ensure that every playthrough brings new obstacles, enemies, and map configurations.

The game's visuals are rendered in pixel art, capturing the essence of feudal Japan. If you're curious to see more, take a moment to watch the official trailer below:
