Dynasty Warriors Origins: Optimal Difficulty Setting Guide

Authore: ScarlettUpdate:Apr 23,2025

Despite the hack-and-slash nature of Dynasty Warriors games, a significant level of skill is required to master them. Dynasty Warriors: Origins acknowledges this by providing players with the option to select from four distinct difficulty settings, enabling them to customize the game's challenge according to their skill level and gaming experience.

As a reboot, Dynasty Warriors: Origins presents both new and veteran players with the challenge of choosing the most suitable difficulty setting. The best choice indeed varies based on the player's skill level and the desired level of challenge.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there are four difficulty settings, though only three are initially accessible. Upon starting the game, players can choose from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The Ultimate Warrior (very hard) difficulty becomes available after completing one of the three factions' main scenarios.

It's worth noting that while there is a Trophy/Achievement for completing a single battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific Trophies/Achievements for completing the main campaign.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

For newcomers to the action-adventure genre or those primarily interested in the story, Historian is the ideal choice, serving as the game's easy mode. Wayfarer is recommended for the majority of players, even those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games. Fans of the series should opt for Hero to start, while Musou game experts might consider stepping up to Ultimate Warrior once unlocked, to maintain a high level of challenge as they tackle remaining missions, requests, and scenarios.

Players can adjust the difficulty setting between battles through the config menu if they find the game too hard or too easy, without impacting the story.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In Historian mode, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier for players to stagger enemies, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. On the other hand, Hero mode increases enemy strength and aggression, shortens the window for parries and perfect evades, and removes Meat Buns from enemy drops. Blocking depletes bravery, players have less time to influence battles between allied and enemy armies, and there's a slight decrease in Skill Points and gold earned. Ultimate Warrior mode intensifies these challenges, with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
