Embracer has celebrated the remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which is approaching the 2 million sales mark. Just one day after its launch, the game sold an impressive 1 million copies, and within 10 days, it nearly doubled that figure. This sequel to the medieval Europe action role-playing game from developer Warhorse Studios, released on February 4, has been a hit across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S platforms. Embracer noted that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performed exceptionally well on Steam, achieving over 250,000 peak concurrent players, a significant increase from the first game's peak of 96,069 players seven years ago.
It's important to consider that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 would be even higher, as it was released on consoles as well as PC. However, Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player numbers publicly.
Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, praised Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for its success in player and critic reception, as well as its commercial performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors commended the dedication of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, stating, “This reflects the dedication and hard work of our development studio, Warhorse Studios, and our publisher, Deep Silver.”
Wingefors expressed confidence in the game's future, saying, “It is our strong belief that the game will continue to generate substantial revenues over the coming years, highlighting the exceptional quality, immersion, and appeal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.” He also mentioned that Warhorse Studios has planned updates and new content for the next 12 months, ensuring an evolving experience for the community. Wingefors added, “We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far.”
In addition to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer is preparing for the release of Killing Floor 3 later this quarter (January to March 2025). Embracer boasts over 5,000 game developers working on its upcoming titles, with 10 triple-A games slated for release over the next three financial years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28), with eight from internal studios and two from external studios.
For FY 2025/26, Embracer has scheduled two triple-A games to be released towards the end of the financial year. Mid-size releases include Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, alongside other unannounced mid-sized games.
Despite recent challenges, including layoffs and the sale of studios like Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer continues to own Metro developer 4A Games, which is currently developing a new game in the series.
