Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live, showcasing an open-world Gotham City fully explorable with the Batmobile.
This ambitious title is in development at TT Games, creators of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and many other licensed Lego adventures. It is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game will include characters and levels inspired by classic Batman films and comics, while its combat system evokes the style of the Batman Arkham series. Notably, Matt Berry will provide the voice of Bane.
"Throughout his history—as the vengeful Dark Knight, the master detective, or the sometimes-reluctant patriarch of the 'Batfamily'—Batman has continually adapted, remaining a timeless icon shaped by his world," stated Jim Lee, President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer of DC.
"This game unites nearly every aspect of his legacy, allowing players to experience the full breadth of what makes Batman iconic. Crafted with immense care, creativity, and reverence for the mythology, TT Games has delivered a true love letter to the Batman universe.”
For years, TT Games held a dominant position in licensed Lego video games for consoles and PC, releasing new titles annually. Between 2005 and 2022, the studio launched over 20 Lego games, featuring multiple adaptations of Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. The company experimented with toys-to-life gameplay in Lego Dimensions and open-world creation in Lego Worlds.
Now, TT Games' fresh vision for Lego Batman arrives in a transformed landscape, with various Lego titles emerging from other studios, the brand deeply embedded within Fortnite, and a significant gap since 2022's Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It will be exciting to see more details of what the developer has created.
