Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This significant leadership transition was announced in a press release released this evening, highlighting a series of high-level promotions within Sony.
Alongside Nishino's promotion, Sony's CFO Hiroki Totoki is set to become the president and CEO of the entire Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been in the role since April 2018. Yoshida had taken over from Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, the Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will assume the position of CFO.
Just last year, following the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that leadership of SIE would be split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With this new development, Nishino will now oversee the entire SIE operation and lead the platform business group, whereas Hulst will continue his role at the helm of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group. Commenting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
