Tekken 8 Boss Says He's Tried To Reach Waffle House For a Crossover, To No Avail

For quite some time now, Tekken fans have been rallying for a unique addition to the franchise: a Waffle House stage. Not an actual visit—though that would be something—but a fully realized in-game location where fighters like Kazuya and Jin could clash under the iconic yellow sign of the famed 24-hour diner. While it may sound like a joke, the request has gained serious traction, and perhaps surprisingly, it's not falling on deaf ears.

On X/Twitter, Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada addressed the growing chorus of fans still passionately calling for a Waffle House stage. This isn’t a new meme—it’s a recurring fan-driven campaign that’s picked up momentum, especially as Harada has openly shown interest in the idea.

“I fully understand” the fans’ requests, Harada stated, affirming that the concept isn’t just noise—it’s something he’s genuinely considered. In fact, he revealed that over the past year, he’s actively attempted to reach out through multiple channels to make a collaboration happen.

"Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," Harada wrote. "However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games.'"

Despite the silence from Waffle House, Harada emphasized that a lack of response is highly unusual in his experience. He also left the door open: if a rebranded or stylized version—say, with a different name but the same spirit—is acceptable, he’d be willing to revisit the idea seriously.

While an official Waffle House stage may not be on the horizon, a parody or in-universe equivalent could still be in play. Harada himself floated the idea of “Hustle House” in a follow-up post—a clever nod that keeps the essence alive without stepping on trademarks.

In the meantime, Tekken 8 continues to evolve. Patch 2.01 has rolled out, and the upcoming addition of Fahkumram to the roster is generating buzz. Back in April, Harada responded to community concerns about Season 2, assuring fans that the tuning team is working “around the clock” to gather feedback and implement meaningful balance changes moving forward.
