Ubisoft Faces Financial Scandal with Assassin

Ubisoft is currently exploring the creation of a new company aimed at attracting investors by focusing on selling key franchises like Assassin's Creed. According to Bloomberg, Ubisoft has initiated discussions to sell a stake in this proposed entity, engaging with potential investors such as Tencent and various international and French funds. The anticipated market value of this new venture is expected to surpass Ubisoft's current capitalization, which stands at $1.8 billion.

However, the plan remains in the discussion phase, and Ubisoft has yet to make a final decision. The success of the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed Shadows plays a pivotal role in these considerations. Ubisoft has reported that pre-orders for the game are progressing steadily, reflecting high expectations for its performance.

Amidst these developments, Ubisoft faces another controversy in Japan. Takeshi Nagase, a member of the Kobe City Council and the Hyogo Prefectural Assembly, has voiced strong objections to the depiction of religious themes in Assassin's Creed Shadows. He finds it offensive that the game allows the protagonist to attack monks in temples or shoot arrows at such sacred sites. Additionally, Nagase criticized the portrayal of the renowned Engyō-ji temple in Himeji, where the character Yasuke is shown entering with dirty shoes and damaging a sacred mirror within the temple.
