As you delve deeper into the world of *Avowed*, you'll face increasingly formidable foes. To maintain your edge in battle, upgrading your gear to match or exceed enemy levels is essential. Here's a detailed guide on how to upgrade your weapons and armor in *Avowed*.

Where To Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Avowed

In *Avowed*, the key to upgrading your weapons and armor lies at the Workbench, as shown in the image above. Each upgrade demands specific materials, which vary based on the type and Quality of the item. While most materials can be scavenged or crafted within the game world, upgrading to a higher Quality requires progressively rarer forms of Adra.

Workbenches are strategically located at Party Camps, which you can establish at any Adra Waystone found throughout the game. To set up a Party Camp, interact with an Adra Waystone and choose the option to establish your camp. Once established, these locations will be marked on your map with a tent icon, allowing you to fast travel to them for convenient upgrades.

How Weapon and Armor Leveling Works in Avowed

In *Avowed*, the power level of your weapons and armor is determined by two factors: Quality and additional upgrades. Quality is represented by a numerical value, a color rarity, and an adjective, and it corresponds directly to the level of enemies in the Living Lands. Gear with a lower Quality will struggle against higher-level enemies, resulting in diminished damage output and reduced protection.

When your gear's Quality falls below that of your enemies, you'll notice your weapons doing less damage and your armor offering less protection. However, gear provides bonuses when used against enemies of the same or lower level. To stay effective in combat, it's crucial to upgrade your weapons and armor in line with enemy progression. Here's a breakdown of weapon qualities in *Avowed*:

  • Common Quality – Green, Level I
  • Fine Quality – Blue, Level II
  • Exceptional – Purple, Level III
  • Superb – Red, Level IV
  • Legendary – Gold, Level V

Within each Quality level, you can further enhance your gear through three additional upgrade tiers, marked as +0 through +3. While these upgrades won't be as impactful as a Quality increase, they still enhance your gear's stats. Importantly, all three additional upgrade levels must be completed before you can elevate the Quality of your weapon or armor.

Avowed Weapon and Armor Additional Upgrades Explained

Each Quality level of gear in *Avowed* offers three additional upgrade tiers. These upgrades, while less significant than a Quality increase, are crucial for fine-tuning your gear's performance. Remember, you must max out these additional upgrades before advancing to the next Quality level.

Which Weapons and Armor Should You Upgrade in Avowed?

In *Avowed*, gear is categorized into standard and Unique types. Standard gear is plentiful and can be found as loot or purchased from Merchants. In contrast, Unique gear consists of named, special items often rewarded through Main or Side Quests, dropped by bosses or bounties, or occasionally sold by select Merchants.

Unique weapons and armor can be upgraded to the highest Legendary Quality, surpassing the Superb limit of standard items. They also come with additional bonuses and perks, making them far more valuable. Therefore, it's advisable to focus your resources on upgrading Unique gear rather than standard items. Use standard gear as temporary equipment until you acquire and enhance Unique pieces, and consider selling or breaking them down for resources to further upgrade your Unique weapons and armor.

And that's how to upgrade weapons and armor in *Avowed*. Keep your gear at its best to conquer the challenges ahead!
