Konami: Silent Hill f Welcomes New & Returning Fans

Silent Hill f isn't a direct follow-up to any previous Silent Hill titles. Similar to Silent Hill 2, it presents an entirely original narrative that stands "separate from the main series."

Publisher Konami clarified this via an official X/Twitter post, confirming the latest horror installment — typically set in a quiet American coastal town — will be "a brand-new experience" designed for both franchise veterans and newcomers alike.

The franchise has explored this approach before. While Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins share continuity, entries like Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming partially unfold beyond the titular location. Konami's announcement definitively confirms that comprehending Silent Hill f's 1960s Japan setting won't require prior knowledge of the 26-year-old franchise.

Transporting players to 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Shimizu Hinako — a teen grappling with societal and familial pressures. The narrative comes from Ryukishi07 (creator of When They Cry), and as hinted in March's Japanese reveal trailer, it marks the franchise's first CERO:Z rating (18+) in Japan.

While ratings may shift during development, previous Japanese-developed entries like Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 carried CERO:C ratings (15+). Western-developed titles typically ranged between CERO:C and CERO:D (17+). Silent Hill f currently holds Mature (US), PEGI 18 (EU), and CERO:Z (JP) classifications.

No release window has been announced for Silent Hill f, nor have updates surfaced regarding No Code's other project, Townfall.
