2025's First Deadlock Update: Surprisingly Small

Authore: ClaireUpdate:May 25,2025

Valve has returned from their New Year holidays, and the gaming community is buzzing with excitement as developers across various titles begin rolling out new patches. Following the announcement that Deadlock is shifting away from its bi-weekly update schedule, many anticipated a patch with an extensive changelog. However, Valve opted for a lighter start to the year, releasing a patch that focuses solely on one hero.

Yamato, a key hero in Deadlock, received a slight nerf. This adjustment included a reduction in damage scaling and a lower attack speed bonus at the first level of Shadow Transformation. In addition to Yamato's changes, other abilities like Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot were weakened, while Alchemical Fire underwent a minor rework.

Given the modest scope of this update, it's highly probable that fans will need to wait for a more substantial patch. Predicting when that might happen is currently a challenging task.

It's important to highlight that Deadlock has experienced a notable decline in its player base recently. This could be attributed to the surge in popularity of Marvel Rivals, which has captured the attention of many gamers. Despite being in deep beta, Deadlock maintains a steady online player count ranging from 7,000 to 19,000, which is quite respectable. As a reminder, Valve has not yet disclosed any potential release dates or specifics about the game's monetization model.
