After just under a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being phased out. Activision has announced that the mobile version of the popular battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Real-money purchases within the game have been disabled, and anyone who hasn't downloaded the app by the cutoff date will permanently lose access.
This abrupt closure marks the end of a high-profile mobile game that sought to deliver the full Warzone experience to mobile gamers. Despite the studio's satisfaction with the game's faithful recreation of Warzone on mobile devices, it appears that the game did not resonate as strongly with mobile audiences as it did with PC and console players.
For those who have already installed the game, online play and matchmaking will continue after May 19th. However, social features will be turned off, and there is currently no set date for when the servers will be shut down completely. The in-game store will remain open, but only for players with existing COD Points, and no new purchases can be made.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with remaining COD Points can redeem them in Call of Duty: Mobile. This redemption period is available until August 15th. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, players will receive double the value of their unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, along with additional rewards.
If you haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final opportunity. After this date, no refunds will be issued, and the game will become inaccessible. This marks a disappointing end to what was promoted as a significant expansion of the Warzone universe, serving as a stark reminder that even the most prominent franchises are not assured long-term success on mobile platforms.
