inZOI Developer Responds to Denuvo DRM Backlash
Denuvo DRM Being Removed From inZOI

The developer of inZOI has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. Over the past day, multiple reports indicated that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the anti-tamper software. Denuvo's inclusion in games has long been a point of contention, with many users and experts citing its potential negative impact on performance.
This DRM and anti-tamper technology aims to prevent the unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it challenging to pirate titles and release cracked versions.
In a Steam blog post on March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed the situation, confirming that the upcoming Early Access build launching on Friday will be free of DRM. "We initially implemented Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution, believing it would ensure fairness for legitimate players. However, after carefully reviewing community feedback, we recognized this decision did not align with our players' expectations," Kjun stated.

He also apologized for failing to communicate Denuvo's presence in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that while removing DRM may increase the risk of piracy, it grants players the freedom to configure inZOI extensively, opening up more opportunities for customization and creativity. "We believe fostering this freedom from the start will lead to more innovative and enduring enjoyment for our community," he added.
inZOI's Vision as a Deeply Moddable Game

inZOI has consistently emphasized the importance of modding, which made the initial Denuvo inclusion puzzling for players, as the software typically hinders mod and customization support.
Kjun emphasized, "As discussed during our Online Showcase, we are dedicated to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our first phase of official mod support launches in May, allowing players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. This is just the beginning. We plan to expand mod support to more areas of the game over time, enabling you to customize and enhance your experience in numerous ways."
He announced that a dedicated post with more modding details will follow. Krafton continues to prioritize its player community, listening to feedback and making necessary adjustments to deliver a high-quality experience.
inZOI is scheduled to enter Early Access on PC on March 28, 2025. The full launch is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
