Pokémon Fossil Museum to Display Real and Fake Fossils in U.S. Next Year

Authore: AuroraUpdate:May 19,2025

The Pokémon Company has exciting news for North American fans: the Pokémon Fossil Museum is set to open its doors in May 2026. This unique exhibition, which debuted in Japan, will now be showcased at Chicago's Field Museum starting May 22, 2026, marking its first international appearance.

Curious about the Pokémon Fossil Museum? It's a fascinating blend of fantasy and science, displaying fabricated Pokémon "fossils" alongside real-world fossils of ancient lifeforms. Visitors to the Field Museum will have the chance to see vibrant Pokémon models juxtaposed with the museum's collection, including iconic scientific casts like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, right next to Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. The museum invites Pokémon Trainers to explore and compare these exhibits, asking, "How many differences (and similarities) will you spot, Trainers?"

For those unable to visit Japan or Chicago, The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have created a solution. Now, fans can take a virtual tour around the exhibit from the comfort of their homes, allowing them to explore the fascinating collection of both real and Pokémon fossils, from a tyrannosaurus to a Tyrantrum.

In other Pokémon-related news, authorities in the UK recently arrested a man after discovering he possessed a stolen cache of Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The collection was uncovered during a police raid in Hyde, Tameside, on the outskirts of Greater Manchester. A police spokesperson humorously noted, "Gotta catch 'em all."
