This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the concluding chapter in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the final Star Wars film directed by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney seven years later.
Fans anticipated that Revenge of the Sith would showcase Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader, but there was also curiosity about the fate of the other Jedi. The film introduced Order 66, a sinister component of Palpatine's scheme where Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars, turned against them and executed them. With thousands of Jedi serving at the time, it was plausible that some would escape Palpatine's grasp—not just the few known to survive into the Original Trilogy.
Among the dozens of Order 66 survivors introduced in canonical Star Wars narratives, we have ranked the top 10 who have had a significant impact. Some of these survivors lived only a short while longer, while others endured much further into the timeline; in some cases, their ultimate fate remains a mystery. Regardless, all these Jedi lived to fight another day after Palpatine's declaration of "Execute Order 66."
For this list, we set specific criteria: the characters must have been under the jurisdiction of the Jedi Order before Order 66, regardless of whether they attained the rank of Padawan, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, or were simply young Jedi Initiates. This excludes Force-users like Maul and Palpatine himself, as well as young Force wielders such as Jod Na Nawood, who never officially joined the Jedi Order or visited the Jedi Temple, despite receiving some training from a Jedi.
There was some debate over whether Asajj Ventress should be included. She spent over 20 years with Jedi Ky Narec, who considered her his Padawan and trained her on the planet Rattatak. However, Ventress never visited Coruscant or met the Jedi Council, and her subsequent alignment with the Dark Side as Dooku's apprentice complicates her status as a Jedi. Thus, she is considered an honorable mention.
