After the release of blockbuster titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all of the talented developers at CD Projekt RED chose to stay on board. Some, driven by a desire for new challenges, embarked on a fresh journey with The Blood of Dawnwalker. This exciting new game has been unveiled by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a key figure behind Rebel Wolves, shared his reasons for leaving CDPR. He emphasized a yearning to explore different avenues in game development with his close-knit team. "I wanted to do something different with my friends, so I started Rebel Wolves," Tomaszkiewicz explained. With a deep-rooted passion for role-playing games (RPGs) and their rich histories, he believes that the traditional RPG framework can be enhanced and expanded. "We came up with some wild ideas," he added, noting that convincing a large corporation to venture into uncharted territory with new intellectual property would be a tough sell.

Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the realization that led to the creation of Rebel Wolves: "If we wanted to pursue these innovative ideas, we would need to open our own studio." He acknowledged the inherent risks in their novel approaches but stressed the advantages of working in a smaller team. "Unlike in large studios where it's more complicated, we work with people and between people in our studio," he said. Tomaszkiewicz believes that a smaller team fosters better communication and makes it easier to discuss and align on the creative vision. "Feeling the 'creative fire' and creating something unique is simpler," he concluded, underscoring the agility and potential of a compact, passionate team.
