Bennett remains a top-tier support in Genshin Impact, valued for his versatility since the game’s debut. Yet, with Iansan’s arrival, could she take his place as a key support character in Genshin Impact team compositions?
In Genshin Impact, players often note that HoYoverse crafted supports like Bennett, Xingqiu, and Xiangling with exceptional strength, prompting the creation of new characters with niche roles to diversify team choices. Set to debut in Version 5.5 on March 26, the 4-Star Electro Polearm character Iansan is already being dubbed a “Bennett successor” due to similarities in her abilities. But does she truly outshine him? Let’s dive in.
How Do Iansan and Bennett’s Abilities Stack Up in Genshin Impact?
Hailing from Natlan, Iansan excels as a support, offering damage boosts and healing. Her Elemental Burst, The Three Principles of Power, mirrors Bennett’s by enhancing team performance. Unlike Bennett’s static field, Iansan summons a Kinetic Energy Scale that trails the active character, boosting ATK based on her Nightsoul Points.
When Iansan’s Nightsoul Points are below 42 out of 54 in Genshin Impact, her ATK bonus scales with both Nightsoul Points and ATK. At 42 or higher, the bonus scales solely with her ATK, emphasizing the need to prioritize ATK in her build.
However, Iansan’s buff requires the active character to keep moving, as the Kinetic Energy Scale tracks distance traveled to restore Nightsoul Points every second based on that movement.
While Bennett’s field heals up to 70% of the active character’s HP, Iansan also provides healing but falls short of Bennett’s capabilities. Notably, Iansan cannot heal herself, giving Bennett a clear edge in healing utility.

A key distinction lies in elemental infusion. At C6, Bennett infuses Pyro into the active character’s Normal Attacks, while Iansan offers no Electro infusion, which may or may not be a drawback depending on your team setup.
For exploration, Iansan shines by using Nightsoul Points to sprint or jump longer distances without stamina costs. However, for Pyro-focused teams, Bennett’s Elemental Resonance, boosting ATK by 25% and enabling Pyro infusion, makes him the stronger choice.
Iansan or Bennett: Who Should You Pick in Genshin Impact?
With striking similarities in appearance and abilities, Iansan feels like Bennett’s counterpart. Rather than replacing him, she serves as a compelling alternative, particularly for second Spiral Abyss teams needing a support akin to Bennett.
Iansan’s Kinetic Scale frees players from the “Circle Impact” struggle of staying in Bennett’s static field, encouraging dynamic movement for buffs. This shift in playstyle offers a fresh approach compared to Bennett’s more stationary support mechanics.
You can test Iansan in Phase I of Genshin Impact Version 5.5, launching on March 26.
