Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become Europe's answer to Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy aims for similar heights, according to Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley. In a Behind The Voice podcast interview, Rowley detailed how this aspiration shaped Quantum Break and, significantly, Alan Wake 2.
Rowley explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog." This influence is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, renowned for its stunning visuals and gripping narrative. The game's success cemented Remedy's status as a leading European game studio.
Remedy's vision extends beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's dominance in cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us (a PlayStation cornerstone and one of history's most decorated franchises), serves as a benchmark.
Even over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 receives ongoing updates, enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a new "Balanced" graphics mode that strategically combines the strengths of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes.
These updates also refine graphic settings for smoother framerates and clearer visuals, alongside minor bug fixes impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion. The commitment to post-launch support underscores Remedy's dedication to delivering a polished and enjoyable experience.
