Arrowhead Boss: Helldivers 2 Our Main Focus for a Long Time

Arrowhead, the developers behind the highly acclaimed *Helldivers 2*, have directly addressed fan concerns regarding the potential shift of focus away from their current hit to a new project, tentatively named "Game 6." Amidst the buzz generated by the game's latest update, which introduced the full-scale Illuminate invasion, CEO Shams Jorjani took to the official Helldivers Discord to reassure the community.

Jorjani expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from players, stating, "The wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people Arrowhead's future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn't have otherwise. Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you." This statement, while meant to be positive, inadvertently sparked worry among some fans who feared it hinted at a redirection of resources away from *Helldivers 2*.

Quick to dispel these concerns, Jorjani clarified, "Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now. A very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it sloowly. Helldivers is our main focus and will be for a loooong time." He further emphasized the longevity of *Helldivers 2*, stating, "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going," referring to the in-game currency used to purchase Premium Warbonds. Jorjani acknowledged past challenges but highlighted a turnaround due to community support, painting a bright future for the game.

In an interesting development, Jorjani also responded to a fan's request for Arrowhead's next game to be available in all regions, saying, "The next game is 100% funded by ourselves so we'll call 100% of those shots." This suggests that Arrowhead will self-publish "Game 6," distancing themselves from Sony and any potential sequel to *Helldivers*.

Reflecting on the development process, Jorjani compared it to *Helldivers 2*'s eight-year journey, noting, "For the most part of the development cycle games plain suck... Very seldom are they truly fun from the get-go." He outlined a smarter approach for "Game 6," focusing on nailing the "core s\*\*t" early on before expanding further.

These comments align with previous statements from Arrowhead developers, who have expressed a desire for *Helldivers 2* to thrive for years. Alex Bolle, production director on *Helldivers 2*, told IGN, "we want it to be around for years and years and years to come." Bolle highlighted the team's motivation to stay true to the game's fantasy while continuously innovating with new features and systems, emphasizing the excitement of adapting creative ideas seen in other games to fit *Helldivers 2*'s unique style.

Recent leaks, including one from PlayStation, suggest that Super Earth may soon become a playable map, signaling continued development and the arrival of the Illuminate to our home planet. With *Helldivers 2* holding the record as the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time, having sold 12 million copies in just 12 weeks, Arrowhead's commitment to its ongoing success is clear, despite the challenges and community feedback faced since its launch.
